I got a 4 door truck because I have a baby,

If you want the newest body style in a gm truck wait until 2014 there suppose be changing up there trucks both in powertrain/engine and in looks. But if your going to get a 2007-2013 get either a 4.8 or 6.2, forget the afm. Afm=oil consumption, don't get the 5.3.

I dont like the AFM either , If I ever get it, I will get it tune out, I heard bad thing about it.

Im getting a 2012 truck 4 door truck, mabe when new body style out and if I like it, I just trade it in for it. Also I think the thread is done, mod can close this

Chances are, no matter what you decide to buy, or when you decide to buy it, you're going to get taken for a bunch of money by the car dealership.

I'm basing this on reading a good deal of your posts since you joined our forum.

I would recommend you just get a lower performance version of whatever vehicle you really like. I would recommend a V-6 version of the Camaro, with a manual transmission. Save yourself some money on the purchase, the insurance, and on gasoline.

But, you're not going to listen to us anyway, so no point getting too involved.

BC.

[censored] Dave, why you gotta be so harsh?lol.

I agree with Dave, I love gm trucks but that thing is ugly, I love them stock. That lift and oversized tires are gonna kill your gas mileage and rob you of power, hardcore! I guarantee the dealership just threw all those mod's on there and called it good, your gonna want to re-gear your rearend when you realize that truck is all looks and no power.

I see couple truck from chevy dealer around here, having their truck jack up , I will ask them install everything and make everything right and the way I want, so I can keep the warranty. If they deline my warranty because im done some mod to suspention. then that something I need to rethink. But I know GM racing part, install by dealer will not void warranty. I will talk to the seller about everything before I sign the paper.

I'd hold out on a Silverado, that's what I doing with my 05. I don't really like much about the new bloated body style, to heavy and lots of little mistakes.

I'm waiting to see how the 2014's look.

I've got the 2011 4WD extended cab 5.3 Silverado. The only time it's in 4 or 6 cyl mode is when it's coasting to a stop, or going downhill with my foot off the gas. It gets 14 mpg around town, and 18-21 on the road, depending on how much of a hurry I'm in.

I have a number of friends with the 4.8, and that configuration is inferior in every way - power, fuel economy, etc.

I also had a couple of 2500 trucks with the 6.0. My mileage with the half ton 5.3 is 30-40% better.

I'd recommend the 5.3. Tune out the AFM if it worries you.

I got mine about 11 months ago. Ended up with it about $10k under list, with the incentives, discounts and whatnot.

My Z-28 has now become my fun car, and since I don't have to use it as a daily driver, I can afford to have it down for mods (if I ever get the time). I'd recommend against getting a performance car for a daily driver with the number of miles you will be driving. I'd also recommend against that wheel package in the truck you showed - you are going to hate that package on the freeway.

The 4.8's, what rear gear do they have? 3.23's are going to be lousy; the towing package should get much better 3.42's. A 5.3 with 3.42's (or better, or the 6 speed auto) is going to be very nice. A 4.8 with the 6 speed and 3.42 or 3.73 is a combo that I don't understand why GM doesn't make.

5.3 is available with 6 speed 3.08 or 3.42, 4.8 does not/is not offered with a 6 speed, 4.8 is paired with 4l60e and is available with 3.23 or 3.73. If you ask me a z71/5.3 with 3.08 rear end is a joke, but they defend it with their 6 speed tranny, whatever. My old mans 97 z71 has a 5.7 with 3.73 and a 4 speed, I like that. I have a 2011 4.8 with 3.23 although not a power house I know I'll get many years and miles out of it, I don't attempt to peel tires (it can't by the way), I do very little towing, and I only floor it when necessary, I love my Sierra!
I do use it as a truck, I've had to move my family and my self a couple times since my return from Iraq, a truck is a must for me!

After reading this statement, I'd consider spending the money on improving your grammar and spelling.

Why not take something like a one or two year old CTS-V? Sedan is still blisteringly fast but very usable on a day-to-day basis.

thanks for all opinion, as soon im back to dallas, I will go into looking for red Silverado 4 door 6.0L or duramax or new body style dodge cummins diesel ASAP.

I have to come clean to you guys
