With new job and new location, Im can finally afford any vehicle I want. and time to let go all the old car, since most dont pass inspection in Texas anyway. This is my driving style, 60+ miles a day high way driving, hot traffic . I really want a 4 door silverado z71 or GMC truck ( I still really want a diesel cummins truck, i see they put the cummins on the new style truck) but I also like speed and shifting gear, Reason I want truck because I have a baby to take around and mabe 1 more on the way, but my fiance already having 4 door 2010 tahoe. And reason im choosing 2012 because end years sale, my fiance bought her tahoe when year end sale for really good deal. Mabe 2013 model if they ever change the body style. Im ready to buy either vehicles, but it just tough choice.

Apparantly TX taxes (for tags) cars based on value and trucks based on weight. So trucks can often be cheaper. Congrats on the job and stuff.

If you're putting on 120+ miles a day, I'd get a Cruze Eco manual transmission. I routinely beat its 42 mpg highway rating. It's also large enough for 2 car seats and strollers for around-town trips with the family.

You already have a capable truck for truck stuff. I'd get a commuter that can double as a family car, and won't kill you on gas like running a truck 120+ miles a day will.

Even at 20 mpg, that's 6 gallons of gas for the truck. That 40 mpg Cruze will need 3 gallons. 120 miles a day is 3000 miles a month, assuming you work 25 days a month. At $3.50 per gallon, that's $525 in gas for the truck, and $265 for the car. Or, $6400 a year in gas for the truck, or $3200 in gas for the car.

Buying the Cruze over the truck is like getting a $3000 pay raise. With little ones, that $3000 will buy a lot of diapers.

What about keeping your current car?

What about waiting a little to see how the new job is panning out before getting yourself in debt only to find out later that the job "did not work out" for one reason or another.

Im plan on paying off the vehicle in 1 years. Gas is not a problem for me. I just want something that im happy with, hauling boat. , hauling a track car to race track... ( kinda like that feeling " ok im done with it, the truck have everything it possible have ". like a truck with 4 real door . instead of 2 and open 2 in the back by open 2 in front.

Buy whatever you can pay cash for. If you can pay it off in a year, why buy now?

I'd go with a Camaro if the GF already has a Tahoe. Why have 2 trucks?

Personally, I'd get the Cruze Eco Manual schiphi suggested. Actually, that is what I plan to do.

My silverado is a bit high miles already, and live in tx is a big different, where high speed, heavy traffic ( 40+ min traffic on 100 degee weather I been thru few time since move here ), I want something that dependable, towing boat/car, and most important warranty, so I dont have to worried a thing any more, and just focust on job, family and fun. and when the truck warranty over or almost over I just trade in buy another one, so im worried free

The OP's question was Camaro SS or Silverado 4 door.

If you want a certain truck or a car that is your business. But that being said you want a pick up with 4 doors because you do not want a extended cab because you do not like the inconvenience of the door design. So why would you want a Camaro then, getting into and out of the rear seats is just as troublesome.

But if you plan is to pay it off in a year anyways why not wait until you can pay in cash?

you want a truck because you have a baby. i dont get it.

get a minivan instead.

no, neither have anything to do with your new baby (as being selfish should be the lowest priority on your list), but enjoy your choice anyway.

The big discount for GM trucks will be next year because of the new platform will be debuting then. Also what makes you believe that once the new trucks come out next year you will not want one of them?

If you want the newest body style in a gm truck wait until 2014 there suppose be changing up there trucks both in powertrain/engine and in looks. But if your going to get a 2007-2013 get either a 4.8 or 6.2, forget the afm. Afm=oil consumption, don't get the 5.3.
