Yup. According to BMWUSA page, the traffic sign recognition technology will be available on the new 3 in North America.

I can't think of a better upscale commuter (on the US market) for someone who will mostly be driving solo but will occasionally carry passengers. The only possible exception would be the Audi A3. By "better," I mean functionally; I'm not accounting for image.


Exactly why I bought it. Besides the 3 being $$$$, it was too big compared to my 318i. I have my saab when I need a bigger sedan, not to mention my MB diesels.

Should I need another larger sedan in the future, the 3 diesel will get a look, I like it. But I just wish they would give an MT diesel like the Jetta TDI.
