It does have a place. It's great for pre lubing an oil pump so that it picks up oil quickly. But that's about it.Do a search here on that.
Don't ruin/dilute the M1 oil with that Lucas junk. It has no add pack so it dilutes the detergent , the anti-wear, the friction modifiers.
I won't let a bottle of anything Lucas near my engines.

If you do the math 1qt into 5-6 quarts essentially moves it up a grade so you are better off just buying thicker oil on the shelf. Not thick water for your oil sump.I used it in a Jeep Wrangler with 250,000 miles on it that had an oil pressure issue and needed a rebuild. That is the only reason I would use it.
I gained a couple PSI and drove it for another summer.
