i think i would go with QuakerState Ultimate Durability or Pennzoil Platinum. both are great oils that wont break the bank.

as far as a filter my opinion is Pureone and Wix are about the best but an AC Delco will satisfy your warranty.

For my 2.2 eco that uses the same filter I prefer the AC Hengst style, not the AC that is sourced from Fram. As for aftermarket filters, the P1 and the Bosch D+ have both served me well.

Will you be doing your own maintenance? If you will be and you arent adverse to stocking up...you can get a great deal on the P1 along with some air filters right now from Advance Auto.

The P1 15436 is on sale for $5 and Purolator has rebates going at the same time.
Buy 6 P1 filters and two Classic air filters and use code "dealio" on the web site, then send in the rebates to Puro...net cost after rebate for six oil filters and two air filters will be cash back to you after rebates.

Purolators for free

cmf's post is what you want to take heed of if you are interested.

Dexos1's spec higher standers than sn/gf5 for turbo protection, piston cleanliness, and sludge protection. So any dexos 1 full synth will do you good.

By 2005 the 3800s where down to 25 mpg in vehicles the same size as your regal. Which leads me to believe the lose was due to having to meet tougher emission standards.

+1 (m1+pp).. I use the Delco cartridge filters in the Chevy (pf457g) and Caddy (2129). I'm not sure what size the Buick uses. If you have trouble finding them, Rockauto.com and Amazon.com (I have used some Pure 1's from Amazon). look for the sales and order enough to cancel out the shipping. Enjoy the car!

My partner has the 2.4 version, it really is a great car. It has an extremely high quality and european feel to it - it was even assembled in Germany! You'll be very happy with it.

I'm no expert on DEXOS1 of GM cars, but I'd be willing to say two things from experience of owning a car with a turbo:

1. Use a full synthetic.
2. Change it often-or better yet follow what the manual says.

What cartridge filters do you guys like for Ecotecs, and what is the best Dexos-approved 5w30 these days?

One more thing: Please... no discussion on whether Dexos approved oil is necessary. That's been beaten to death. I would prefer to use a Dexos oil while the vehicle is in warranty.

What a beautiful car! I don't understand why someone would spend more money on a 3 Series or a C-Class. Equally equipped and equal in performance (on paper) but a $20k premium, I just wouldn't do it. I guess I don't care about the status symbol. Rant over.

Anyway, back to your original question. I would look no further than QSUD.

Enjoy the car!

If it was rear wheel drive I might agree with you.

Me,I`d take Buick over Mercedes any day. LOVE the new Regal! Drive and enjoy it!
