Me likey! It's getting a proper motor as well; 6.2 w/ 411hp/434tq. A little pricey though, cool truck none the less.

I didn't notice that, interesting observation. I was thinking too, if they ever brought back the Lightning, this engine plus a supercharger would be insane! Even if they don't, aftermarket s/c's would be cool.

Exciting stuff going on with the F-150 lineup. For 2011; the 5.4/4.6 is gone. Engine choices will be; 3.7 V6(found in Mustang), 3.5 Ecoboost, 5.0L V8(also in Mustang), and the 6.2 V8. Obviously tuning will be different, but sounds promising. According to the same site, on August 11th there is another announcement. I imagine the specs on these motors will be revealed. Also, all motors come with a 6spd auto.

Yes, and that's because that was the inspiration for this engine, as well as the original modular, which was based off this engine.

Sounds backwards I know.

The BOSS/Hurricane is the original incarnation of the Modular engine. Which was of course based on the 427 SOHC. Unfortunately, due to space constraints, there was some bean counting done and the engineers were forced to "shrink" the engine. They did this by reducing the bore size. Which was why the Modular ended up with a very petite bore.

Hurricane; the original version, was kept on the back-burner. Almost axed.... And then given new life. It became the new 6.2L. And from what I recall, has the ability to grow to something ridiculous like 8.0+L.

Ford has some nice engines coming out lately. Looks like a nice truck. I wonder if and when they will come out with a torquey half ton truck with a diesel V-6?

I am thinking Ford Ranger spiffed up a bit with the new V6 that is in the 2011 Mustang!! Lots of power and decent mpgs.

Naw -- they'll both be seen at the mall, work, Home Depot, etc. Most Raptors will never see sand, and most Harley Editions will never haul one.

Both will be used as a toy, or show-off vehicle.

I'd love nothing more than to lease one of these HD editions and then use it like a real pickup in the real world... to build houses (as I do) or for a farmer to use it on a 1500 acre operation.

To use it like a real truck... hauling, pulling, getting dirty, driving it across construction areas and across fields... and worst of all, earning some various dents and scratches.

Use it like a *real* truck, in the *real* world, and watch some people recoil in horror over using a truck like a truck.

And when the lease is over, turn it back in.

I knew a guy that bought a brand new truck. Brought it to his brother's house to show it off.

Then he proceeded to pick up a hammer and smash it into the side of the bed. Said he wanted to be the first to dent it.

Some people here might say that it's a truck so who cares? Personally, I think he's an idiot. But it's his property. Just don't treat mine that way. I was raised to take care of my belongings.
