+1

Full warranty and only a small price increase? I'd say take it.

I've worked in the new car dealer business for two decades plus.

DO NOT buy ANY "BUY BACK" no matter what you are told!!!!

There is a reason why they bought this back and almost 100% of the time it is because there is NO way to correct the problem fully and make the car satisfactory for daily use.

Agreed about this dealer being potentially shady.

With rare exception most dealers are not looking out for YOUR interests. I can say this because I worked within the systems for years and at a number of different brand stores, generally the attitude is almost always the same. The customer comes last.

I agree with the other poster that said to cut your losses, get your money back, and walk away from that place.

The OP can't get his money back, the dealer wouldn't agree to that. In another thread the OP laid out the whole situation.

The original thread was removed at the OP's request.

Normally I would agree with you. But that Lemon buy back thing has me concerned for him. Like some one else mentioned, how much difference for a new Sonata?

So does the dealer!

This makes our payment $8 more a month then the $17k Camry w/ 5% used car financing.

As much as I don't want to purchase a new car through them, It is a good deal. I think they just want us gone and out of the showroom.

No offense but why haven't you already done this and got as far away from that dealer as you can? For $8 more per month you are getting a brand new vehicle with a full 100K worth of warranty. No buy backs or unknown history used cars.

Count your blessings and then go sign that paper as fast as you can before they blink. Then NEVER go back.

The Toyota makes more financial sense. Plus, when it's time to sell, the Camry simply will sell far easier, regardless of price.

The Camry is an excellent car.

My dad just told me that he wants the Camry. He's aware it may take some time for the dealer to find one with the same miles (17k).

I do feel that in ten years the Toyota will still be going strong. I cannot say the same for the Sonata.

If it were me I'd take the one they have on the lot. It only has 9k miles more than the 17K you want. I would want to get the deal done as fast as possible. Who knows how long they'll be willing to work with you before they decide they've done enough?

No matter what, I would stay away from that Sonata! Lemon's are usually problem plagued. I just don't think I would chance it.

I'd go with the Camry as it seem as the safer purchace although both cars are fine cars!

These are both lemons... get it?

Really, a Camry and a Sonata are fine cars???? They are acceptable economy cars at best. IMO of course.

I would still buy the new Hyundai. With a 10 year 100K warranty you are covered for a LONG time. Keep it 3-4 years and see how it holds up and then go buy a Camry if it appears to be a problem.

IMO you are crazy to buy ANY used vehicle from this dealer. They sold you a busted up Camry with a voided warranty and then tried to sell you a Lemon to make up for it.

You have a chance at a brand new vehicle and a chance out of this nightmare you are in for just an extra $8 a month. TAKE IT! The "NEW" Hyundai is not going to break down and be ready for the junkyard 2 days from now. I can't say the same for any used car you get from this dealer.

To me it is a no brainer

Guess it depends on how set you are on a Camry? They likely will still be looking at getting one from an auction, not a fresh trade.

IMO, one these two Sonatas seems to be your best option at this moment. You should grab the better of the two Sonata's and move on at this point. I don't think you will do better waiting on a Camry from them, or any better on a Sonata deal.

Well I don't think the Hyundai will give us problems, my dad originally purchased a Toyota, and that is what he wants.

The dealer didn't "Try" to sell the Lemon Sonata, they said take it for the week and drive it.

The Manager has been contacting us frequently to update us and we've brought in Toyotas that match our criteria online. Hes called the dealers infront of us but its not simple.

Were not going to resell the car, my father doesn't do that. When the dealer finds one that is an equal match, that is Toyota certified, we will be on our way.
