These are nice cars, enjoy them, they are made to run hard!

Nice. I really don't want to stray from the 5w30 anyway. I'm pretty sure the GM Engineers knew people were going to be racing Camaros so they can't be wrong with the 30 weight.

Jeepers grade/ weight means little here.

If you want to stay with a 30 GRADE go to a schweet "Euro Spec" 30 grade

Their approval committee is ACEA not ILSAC nor API.

Some of the better ACEA xw30 meet Porsche, Daimler or VAG approvals for (turbocharged) gasoline engines ( ex: MB approval 229.5 (2012)

Toady is the last day to stock up on Napa Synthetic for $2.99/qt. It is rebranded Synpower and meets dexos1 standards

Pick up a a Napa Gold filter while you're there.

How do you interpret this as being specific types of racing?

Not changing the engine oil to 15W-50 may cause engine damage. Engine oil must be changed to 15W-50 synthetic.

His 2010 manual makes no mention of oil during competitive use. In any case, something thicker than standard M1 5w30 won't hurt anything in his car, and it will provide a greater margin of safety until he gets an idea of how hot it's getting after multiple passes. So, why not?

Stock car w/ DOTs? 3-5 passes a night... big deal. That's not really taxing the engine... I would not consider that track-use.
