200K Transition Mobil 1 To Amsoil

Anyone who puts themselves in your shoes with that much driving would be able to recognize the optimization potential going over to Amsoil Signature Series.

This isn’t rocket science. M1 EP might be fine for the 10k mile interval, but your goal is 15k-20k and SS is proven to have more headroom and repeatability. M1 EP is solid OTS and might be up to the task, but we’re talking risk aversion the further an interval gets extended out.

That’s like saying no one should buy HPL because M1 EP is capable. Ok, isn’t your money though and (for now) oil is still cheap. Whats the harm increasing the headroom with how much driving is being done? I’d hate to change my oil more than necessary racking up the mileage you do.

Easy boutique candidate. Just validate the results with testing and adjust things later.
Thanks for vindication. I will journey through this interesting test results. Post them, move forward from there.

I've looked at LOTS of UOA's.
Amsoil shows about the same wear metals, in about the same concentrations....... as any other upper tier oil.
It's not like it's in a "Class, all by itself"
Its pretty much right in the class, of upper tier oils.
And you know why that is right? I think we talked about that in a different thread.

But of course that tells you nothing about oxidation resistance, resistance to deposit and sludge formation, and other attributes that aren’t going to show up on a $35 spectrographic analysis.

Wear just isn’t “the” problem with oil.

I think that Amsoil has proved itself above and beyond those attributes. My oci will not be that outrages where any degration to Signature Series 5W-30. I'll have the lab results posted .

2008 Corolla in impeccable condition reaching 200k miles, all original equipment, no failures of a part yet. Just ran Mobil1 EP 5W30 for 10K miles and will send it off to a lab. Switching to Amsoil Signature Series 5W-30 with plans to extend my intervals to 15K miles. Have that lab tested. I prepurchased 3 lab kits.
Do you think that's a good mileage plan ,?
Mostly entire highway miles.

Be sure to put in the comment section on the paperwork you submit to the lab what your goal is. Wait for the report to come back before deciding what change interval to try next. The lab will tell you if the oil is safe to extend the interval. Use science to determine what you do and not the opinions of strangers on the internet.

I don't blame you wanting to go further. I mean who wants to always be changing oil, right?

Isn't there a video of a guy who did 20K changes on Amsoil and the engine gave up at like 900K from a burnt valve?

Amsoil says go 25K. Are people doing it? IDK.

Many extreme runs with Amsoil included their filtration system - seldom talked about here these days - and harder to implement with current OEM oil filter/mounts …
A great deal of members reduce fines with the drain bolt …
