200K Transition Mobil 1 To Amsoil

Anyone who puts themselves in your shoes with that much driving would be able to recognize the optimization potential going over to Amsoil Signature Series.

This isn’t rocket science. M1 EP might be fine for the 10k mile interval, but your goal is 15k-20k and SS is proven to have more headroom and repeatability. M1 EP is solid OTS and might be up to the task, but we’re talking risk aversion the further an interval gets extended out.

That’s like saying no one should buy HPL because M1 EP is capable. Ok, isn’t your money though and (for now) oil is still cheap. Whats the harm increasing the headroom with how much driving is being done? I’d hate to change my oil more than necessary racking up the mileage you do.

Easy boutique candidate. Just validate the results with testing and adjust things later.
Thanks for vindication. I will journey through this interesting test results. Post them, move forward from there.

I've looked at LOTS of UOA's.
Amsoil shows about the same wear metals, in about the same concentrations....... as any other upper tier oil.
It's not like it's in a "Class, all by itself"
Its pretty much right in the class, of upper tier oils.
And you know why that is right? I think we talked about that in a different thread.

But of course that tells you nothing about oxidation resistance, resistance to deposit and sludge formation, and other attributes that aren’t going to show up on a $35 spectrographic analysis.

Wear just isn’t “the” problem with oil.

This site used to be long OCI friendly with quality oils. Now it seems to be the opposite with the onslaught of DI engines and turbos which is understandable. That 2008 Corrolla is neither DI nor turbo charged though?
Crosses my mind often …
