I'll just have to wait and see. They keep giving me the run-around. The guy keeps saying "I'll call you right back", he's said this about 5 times. I just got off the phone with him and he said there's nothing he can do until tomorrow. Well, tell me that in the first place you moron!

It would be rare for a suspension component to be loose already.
But even if they are loose, they don't CAUSE vibration. They allow wheel/tire vibrations to be more evident.

So a bad tire, bad balance, bad wheel, or maybe even a brake rotor are faulty.

Mike where are you taking it? I have a dealer I work closely with if your having problems. Depending where you are Santan is great aswell as Sanderson.

DieselTech, this is Camelback Ford Lincoln Mercury in Phoenix. I'll give them one more try to get it right, if they don't come through I'll PM you. BTW, thanks very much for your concern.

I'm betting it's a tire issue. Ford uses cheap tires on the Ranger.

Keep hounding the dealer, and maybe contact Ford corporate. A 2009 shouldn't have any vibration.

Most likely a tire but check your all your boots on the front. I have one torn on a tie rod and truthfully I don't know how long it's been that way. Going to get mine to check alignment eventually I'm certain it's the tires.. sometimes it shakes sometimes it pulls to the left ehh.

I have a 2009 Ranger Sport 2WD, have they checked the wheel bearings in the front wheels? Mine needed an adjustment after 1K kms due to play(races probably just seated into hubs). They didn't cause a noticeable issue on my truck, but a loose bearing could cause what he describing.

Sorry guys, haven't updated yet. I haven't taken the truck in actually. They're waiting on a part for the seat track(different issue), and I'll do it all then. I still haven't heard from them so they are getting a call tomorrow morning.

does it have traction control? this girl at my work had a yukon and was complaining of all sorts of shifting/vibrations and couldn't figure it out..... turns out she had the traction control on. after turning it off, all the problems went away....i guess you are only supposed to use it in rain or snow.

Took it in today finally. They fixed the passenger side window tint and the seat track.

As for the vibration, it's still there. I asked what they did and he said the tires were low, so they filled them. That's it! As if that's going to fix the problem. Just as the last tech said, this guy also mentioned that he "noticed no vibration", on the test drive.

Perhaps I should take the truck to a different dealer? Keep in mind the vibration isn't terrible, but noticeable. It just bothers me this is occuring on this truck.

Just like most here, I'm thinking it's the [censored] Continental Contitracs. I may have another dealer use a Hunter Road Force and see what happens. If that fails, perhaps move towards getting new tires, try to convince them that these ones are faulty.

Make sure they do a full road force balance on ALL 4 tires. Ask for printouts too.

The spec for the truck is 18 lbs. road force for each tire which translates to roughly .018" loaded run-out depending on the setting of the machine. Also ask them to watch for lateral run-out (machine will not check for it).

Also go for a ride as they test it so you can show them what you see.

Have you tried moving the fronts to the rear and the rears to the front.... and see if anything changes?

Rather than spend your time with incompetent dealer mechanics who think that changing the air pressure is some sort of a cure all, I'd try this.

+1

I would change dealers in heart beat...All our Fords are serviced at a different dealer then where we bought them...Dealers [for the most part] don't care where the car was bought at when it is brought in for service at a different dealer...Most of them actually are happy to have you as a customer.

It's fixed!

Tried a different dealer and viola!

They fixed the noises, loose fittings in the door panel and the seat track was loose. Noises gone now.

As for the vibration, the LF tire was put on the Road Force and exerted 37psi. It needed to be replaced, now the truck rides as it should.

I'm pretty happy right now!
