The 504/507 spec is sold here for use in the DPF equipped diesels.
Also, as mentioned previously, none of the 'over-the-counter' 5w30's meet euro specs. They're just not robust enough.
Mobil-1 0W-40, Castrol 0W-30;5W-40, Valvoline 5W-40 are all readily available oils that meet the 502.00 spec. High Mileage Mobil-1 products also meet the requisite ACEA A3/B4.
Somebody needs to tell Volkswagen this...
My GTI started life as a VWoA corporate car and was serviced with 504.00 oil. Dealers are also using 504.00, and selling it for use, in gasoline engined cars.
I don't know what you consider "over the counter", but I can get at least three different 504.00 certified 5w30 oils easily. In fact, I can find it more easily than a 502.00 product.
Despite the numerous claims I've seen tossed about here, Castrol Syntec 0w30 is not certified to any VW specification, anywhere. The only 502.00 certified Castrol products commonly available in the NA market are SLX Professional 5w30 and Syntec 5W-40. There is also no 502.00 certified Valvoline product commonly available in the North American market, despite claims to the contrary.
Of course, if you've got info that supersedes Volkswagen's official factory service data, I'll be glad to be put straight on the matter.
Cheers
