Bike was ridden fairly hard for those miles. I changed it due to being spooked by 2 years.

I really don't understand Blackstone and their "should be" values. the viscosity should be well over 12.5 cSt for a 10W-40.
They base their "should be" values on the typical ACTUAL vis they see as an average for the grade tested for used oil. Since most lubes don't stay "in grade", BS reports what would be typical for the use, not the "as seen in bottle" vis.

I am not saying this is right or wrong; only explaining it.

the wear data looks good; the contamination is low; the base number is sufficient.

Thanks, I no longer have the bike but have switched to 5k regardless of time on my current bikes. ST1300s are the camrys of motorcycling, many out there with many hundreds of thousands of miles on 10k mile ocis.
 
Are you 100% sure that's M1, 10W-40 4t? Calcium should be about 2500 and 1600 ppm phosphorus and 1700 ppm zinc, magnesium at near 200ppm. Also that oil is very unlikely to shear below grade. Especially with nil fuel contamination. Too many things don't add up here.
 
M1 10w40 4T has never had 1700 ppm zinc in the last decade+. That would be the current M1 20w50 VTwin.

Flashpoint @395F says there is fuel in the oil, that number trumps the "<.5" fuel number. Lighter grade or sheared oil doesn't flash higher or lower, fuel in the oil changes that number.

Definitely 4T.

I used the V-twin 20w-50 in my Harley engine Buell and my Harleys, and found it fantastic. The M1 V-twin is the only oil change where I ever felt/heard an engine run noticable quieter/better after an oil change.

No, the STs are the Accord of motorcycling. If it were made by Toyota, it'd be a Carmy ...

Seriously, though, they are long-lived. I have a buddy who's got an ST1100 with about 185k miles on it. Typical replacements over the years; consumables like tires, brakes, batteries, etc. Even got a new swingarm; the OE one rusted out. He found a used one with low miles from a wrecked bike.
 
Probably the best bike I ever had. I had two, loved them. Helibars and an RDL made for easy 300 mile tanks, no breaks necessary. 0 vibration and great thrust from 2-8k rpm. Great balance and superb low speed manners .

A real shame Honda didn't do a very light update on that platform.

I moved on due to:
Heat (not a deal breaker but significant)
Fairings tight for long legs, knees always banging into the pockets. (Annoying)

Terrible aerodynamics. Buffeting, noise, and high speed nervousness. Tried four windshields, best was the factory cut down very short. A platform that is perfect for the highway, but just not comfortable there due to poor wind management. (Biggest offense)
