Well, I figured it's time to dig this thread out and knock the dust off with an update.

Basically, not much to report at all. Only warranty repair so far was the outside door trim piece coming loose. That was a few months after it was purchased. Since then, nothing. All the rattles have gone away (without repairs) since I last posted, it was even quiet when it got brutally cold in January.

Currently pushing 20k miles. Oil has been changed 3 times since factory fill, 2 times with PP 5W-20 and once with M1 EP 5W-20. Rotated tires a few times too. Other than that, nada.

It's really been a great little car, and I hope that it holds up just as well as it has so far. Hopefully I will remember to update this thread from time to time!

Have ever actually owned a Honda, or are you just trying to stir people up?

If so, what happened to make you hate them so much? Most people are smart enough to admit, even if they don't like them, that
Honda's are pretty darn good cars....

Yes we do have a honda,
and their really is no reason I don't like them ( except for above)

A friend of mine has a 03 Civic..He bought it brand new..The only major problem so far is the A/C..The whole A/C system went out twice so far..The first time it was under warrenty but the second time he had to pay for it...That is not good in Miami Jungle Heat.

Besides that the car has been trouble free..He uses only 5w20 Mobil 1 and it seems to work well..He does 95% stop and go driving...He has about 50K miles on it now.

Smell? Wow. Exhaust or otherwise?

We joke around in our shop that if you plan on committing suicide by means of running a car in a closed garage, don't use a Honda. You'll be there all day! 2008 Civic is a ULEV car, you could suck on the tailpipe all day and feel fine! For those who want to off themselves I recommend a fine example such as a 1990 Ford Taurus. LOL.

just as much interior room as an average midsize domestic sedan

"awful engine"
not so much. sips gas, smooth as a well oiled sewing machine, revs to 7k without a problem. Not exactly a torque monster, but not designed to be.

"noises"
there were a few to begin with, they have fixed themselves as the car has loosened up.

"wears tires to quick"
only the hybrid models with heavy battery packs in the back. Service bulletin was released to correct the issue.

"junkey knobs"
Seem fine to me. Let me tell you about junky knobs, they're called all 90's Pontiacs. Big gray and sloppy. Fisher Price, my first car interior!

Dont know that I really dislike them yet but will let you know. I've owned Honda motorcycles forever and never had problems. My college daughter bought a 04 Accord V-6 last summer with 68k miles on it. Gorgeous car and I thought Honda's should be ultra reliable right? Wrong! So far I've done a $500 pwr steering pump on it. The airbag light is on due to a faulty seat sensor (under recall for this) and I've read many a horror story about V6 auto tranny's cratering. So I'll guess we shall see about Honda's. Oh, almost forgot, I'm thinking I'll do the HUGE 105K service early to be safe. Approx $1200 for timing belts and valve adjustments and water pump! Good times!
