bought a used 2007 yukon xl about 6 mnths ago and it had 2 keys. i lost one the other day, looking to get another one, these keys do have the chip inside and as long as you have an original key you can program the new key yourself, once you have it cut at a parts store. anyone here know how hard it is to program the new key ?

Beings I work at the plant that probably built your truck - here is all you do:

Put the original key in, turn key to on (don't start engine). Then turn key to off and remove. Than do the same with the "new" key. Unlike that article, you DO NOT have to wait like 10 minutes. The whole process will take 10 seconds. Put original key in, turn on then off and do same with new key - 10 seconds max.

How does this prevent someone from making a copy of your key (like valet parking). At least with the Jeep you need two working keys, something a valet parking attendant would not have.

You would use the valet key in this case.
