This one's for all you 2007 later Civic owners out there. Standard Castrol GTX 10W30 dino oil was used until the Honda OCI was at 5%.

I've switched over to Penzoil Platinum 5W30 and will run an analysis on that once the OCI is at 1% for comparison. Will probably be a year from now.

2007 Honda Civic 1.8L Auto
Oil: Castrol GTX 10W30
Filter: Purolator PureOne PL14610

Blackstone was the lab used.

This sample had 10 months of time on the oil, 6,537 miles. No makeup oil added. Vehicle had 14,845 miles on the clock. The Honda Oil Change Indicator was at 5%.

COMMENTS:
We found nothing in this sample that we didn't expect to find from a new engine. Aluminum is
high due to new parts breaking-in, while silicon is from sand-casted parts and sealers used when
assembling your engine. Both should improve with subsequent oil changes. Universal averages are based
on an oil run of 5000 miles. You ran this oil 6357 miles so most wear is already better than averages. The
TBN read 2.1 so the oil still had plenty of active additive left. A TBN of 1.0 or lower is too low. Sodium is
from the oil itself. So far so good! Try 7500 miles next time.

Nice showing for Castrol - that plain GTX is some tough stuff.

Still in grade, and still some TBN after 6500 miles. Could have done a 7500-mile run. Awesome.
