I have a 2007 camry le v6 with about 38k miles on it..I am about to change the oil and would like to go synthetic..The manual calls for 5w30 but my question is if i can put 5w-20 or even a 0w-20 in it..I dont know if i would be doing any damage by switching to a 0w-20 synthetic and i dont know if I would get improved mileage if i switched to a 0w-20..any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated

PS I live in the NYC area and put around 5k-10k miles a year

Castrol Edge 0w-20 would be a good oil to run 5k or Toyota 0w-20

I would try the 0w-30. there's probably not that much of an increase in mpgs from 0w-20 to 0w30 anyways. either one would be fine though! best of luck!

i was thinking of going with Amsoil 5w30 XL which is a 7500/6 OCI, and i can get it for about 5 bucks a quart..I was wondering if I should go with the 0w-20 though

I've ran 5W-20 for the last 10K miles in a 5w30 spec car. No noticeable MPG gains, city driving. But the car does feel like it has more power with a lighter oil. Stick with 5w30 if you can get Amsoil cheap.

I would worry more about keeping the oil in the engine.

Have you had the oil hose campaign performed?

Where can you get Amsoil for $5?

I became a preferred customer for $10 for 6 months and the price for the 5w30XL oil or the 5w-20XL oil is about 5-5.50 a quart..you can go on their website and order it..I think I am going to put the 5w30 in there and see how the car runs

I also own a 07 Mitsubishi Endeavor SE and I switched over to Amsoil's 5w-20 XL..That truck only takes about 4.5 quarts of oil...I changed it and put 2k miles on it and havent had to top off at all..Plus after 2k miles the oil is not black, but still a golden brown, which I was very impressed with...i just checked the dipstick today and it is still full

FYI, I dont sell Amsoil and I am not affliated with them in any way..Just wanted to put that out there
