2006 suburban electrical problem - suggestions?

we have a 2006 suburban at work 350, a/c, ps, 3/4 ton, 4 wd, 170k miles but many more idling hours. every so often it just stops, won't run, other times all locks (clicking), radio, etc. stops, new battery has lost charge, when something goes almost everything goes, then mysterously returns to normal.been in various shops and "fixed". Any suggestions? I'M wondering main fuse block or ignition switch or + or - cables have an almost break.the idea that everything is gone or close seems like a real hint,but I'm not sure. Comments? remember, high mileage and very high hours.
 
I didnt know they made a 350 suburban in 2006...

What has been done in these "fixes"?
 
2006 Suburban should have a 5.3,6.0,or 8.1 engine.Many still confuse these totally unrelated engines to the old 1955 "small blocks" which have not been in OEM installation for over 10 years now.
I would check out the battery cables and their connections at both ends.Either a connection is loose or corroded,or the cable itself is corroded and broken internally.
 
it probably is the 5.3, the smaller chevy v-8, which I understand is just a modified version of the small block chevy that first came out in 1955? I remember reading (and from childhood) that the small ohv chevy was a very poor engine in terms of reliability. Fortunately no Ralph Nader or it would have been doa. I guess in 50 years a lot has been upgraded by everybody, not just GM. When you say it is totally unrelated what do you mean?
 
The current Chevy V8s in use since the late 90s/early 2000s have absolutely nothing in common with the old small block Chevys, aside from being pushrod V8s.

And if it's a 3/4 ton (2500) it would have the 6.0 liter.

Ludicrous comments above, the Chevy small block is a highly respected design even in today's modern world. Ever see a late model LS7 engine? Super small packaging, ultra light and simple, yet ridiculously powerful AND economical.

The 4.8/5.3/6.0/6.2 are all practically the same engine, with GREAT reliability and super long life even in industrial service trucks like we own.

I have trucks out working every day with over 400k miles. No smoking, leaking, knocking, no oil consumption at all.
