What viscosity does it recommend? If 5w20, then you would be fine with Motorcraft 5w20 syn blend.

Motorcraft 5w20 comes standard in syn blend. They do sell a motorcraft 5w20 full synthetic. The "regular" Motorcraft blend should work well.

My friend has a 2004 E350 motor home with the v-10 and is using M1 5-30.

Your welcome. At work we use regular 5w20 (not syn at all) Valvoline in everything from Focuses to F350s. Unusually the larger trucks and vans are commercial vehicles with less than adequate maintenance. If those things can survive 8,000 mile oil changes on 5w20, you should be that much better with Motorcraft.

If it's a Ford mod motor, and the recommendation is 5-20, there's no reason NOT to use MotorCraft.

Yep - same specs as the 5.4 with 2 more pistons added. It is still using the 2v heads though.

Partially true. Some of the newer V-10s also had 3-valve heads. What they do NOT have is the VVT (variable valve timing). The V-10 has been dropped from the SuperDuty line, but it still exists in the Vans, although not in 3-valve form. But for a while, some V-10s did get three valve heads.

Still, they are (and always have been) part of the modular engine family. The blocks are even machined on the same transfer line (or at least they were back when I visited the plant).
