That's a common misconception because it's what's stamped on the filler cap. If you check the owner's manual you will see it specifies up to 20w50 for severe service. 5w40 seems to deliver good results for many, or a thick 30 weight like GC.
Yep, and the manual also says that a 10W can be used down to -4F. With the low pour point of these synthetics, -4F is a breeze.
The first number is the winter rating, but does not necessarily measure how thick the oil is. It's a measurement of how well the oil will flow (Cold Cranking Viscosity).
What engine management are you using? Are you tuned? Cobb AccessPort?
