2005 Sony desktop HDCP compliant?

Intel tech tells me the Pentium D 945P chipset is HDCP compliant. I'm adding a Buffalo 8x external blu-ray writer. I know the add-on will write/read to blu-ray as a storage device, but I also want to view movies and/or other HD content. My understanding is that HDCP looks at the entire system as well as the video card which I've upgraded to a Radeon HD.

Has anyone else added Blu-ray to an older PC?

Blu-ray takes alot of processing power.

I have a newer
something from 2005 you may have unacceptable performance.

also radeon hd does not say much(descriptively) it is the equivalent to saying

I upgraded to ford car

many models and speeds available.
not to mention interfaces.

even though blu ray can be accelerated through some hardware.
it still requires alot of processor.

It isnt to the level yet that regular dvds are where
you have everything offloaded and the processor chugs along at 5% useage.
not to mention that blue rays have over 5x the data and use a much better compression(more power to decode)

The Radeon card(HDMI/DVI Dual link PCIE16x) is not a problem with a 800mhz core and 1gb memory. Without HDCP compliancy in the clipset, one cannot view HD movies. My system resources should be fine with a 3ghz dual core/4mb ram.

FYI, The Buffalo 8x external BD writer installed without a hitch. HD playback is pretty awesome. The PowerDVD player even enhances DVD playback. BD playback is smooth as silk but takes about 45sec to load and start playing a BD. So far so good.

I play 1080P movies on a Pentium 4 3.2GHz. My player offloads to the GPU (Geforce 210) most of the work so I end up with 10-20% usage.
As long as you have even a semi modern video card (a G210 is pretty basic; I think I paid $15 for it) and a program that uses hardware acceleration then they should be playable on just about anything as far as CPU.
