I had a draind and fill ATF servicce performed on my 05 Frontier at a local shop.I drove the vehicles for 2 days. I felt like a slight slippage in the transmission When accelerating from a standstill a couple of times. Did not happen all the time.Transmiision only slipped when I got into the accelerator a liitle bit. I found that the transmission was 2 qts low. Overall capacity of system is 12 qts. I approximately put 50 miles on the vehicle before adding the adding the fluid. Since adding, transmission is shifting fine. I was wondering would this situation dratically shorten the lifespan of the transmission.

Can't say either way as far as the under fill, but if it's the VQ40DE (V6) just wanted to make sure you're aware of the fairly common radiator/transmission cross contamination issue.

Nissan really dropped the ball on that one by not recalling all effected radiators. The NHTSA even got involved, but unfortunately so far they haven't forced Nissan to recall.

I had a guy come in to my store yesterday with an 03 frontier with a 4cyl. Sais hes trans is slipping. 150k with the original fluid and he wanted to put some lucas in it. facepalm.. told him drain and fill is the best option. he bought the lucas anyway.

THanks Digital2K@ for the info on the raidator failures on the Frontier. I just went ahead and replaced my radiator with one from Napa. Hope that one is built better.

Since bringing fluid yp to correct level, the transmission is shifiting perfectly. Hope it stays that way
