I’ve had this 05 Honda Rancher for at least a decade. I’ve only changed the oil once about 5 years ago (it’s a Honda, it’ll survive my neglect). The old girl is an automatic so I want to make sure I use an oil that’s friendly to the tranny (even though I’ve neglected it). Any recs? I don’t have a Honda dealer close anymore and not really interested in driving 90 miles each way to get to one. The older I get the less I tend to shop online so would prefer to pick up oil in person from a parts store, farm store, etc. Don’t bother suggesting Amsoil either. I absolutely will not purchase it and not because I don’t think it’s a quality product, that’s a discussion for a different time and place but they aren’t getting my hard earned dollar.

I'm a big fan of Castrol Actevo 10W-40 4T Synthetic Blend Motorcycle Oil for good all around use in motorcycle and ATV. I just get it off Amazon.

I run a 50/50 mix of Rotella 15w40 and Rotella 5w40 synthetic in ours. The goal is to end up with something close to a 10w40, and since both oils are supposed to be JASO MA rated, I've never had a problem with it. It’s been working great for me, so just sharing what’s been solid for my setup.

Whatever jaso ma satisfying oil off the Walmart shelf works well enough. Valvoline released a new 4t variant in blue black bottles and they're $6 at walmart maybe give it a go.
