Goodbye my love - 2007 Mustang GT.

I had to buy a truck for a new business venture. She is pretty solid and I want to make sure that I take care of the fluids perfectly.

2004 F150 with the 5.4L. 94,000 miles A/T 2WD K&N cold air induction system

What would you change/replace?

I am looking to do
1. oil/filter change with cheap 5/20 and motorcraft filter
2. coolant flush
3. trans pan drop and refill and filter swap
4. good hard look at spark plugs and wires - swap if needed
5. PCV replacement
6. Power steering - turkey baster method
7. Differential fluid swap

my questions are what else would you do and why? And it calls for motorcraft premium gold engine coolant ford part # VC-7-A Ford Specification WSS=M97B51-A1....is this Prestone? And it calls for 75W90 in the rear end (in the owners manual)... has anything else been recommended since? Anyone know if it has grease points for the front end? it is 5:43AM and I don't want to get under her in the dark. Thanks

That looks like everything except I would refit it back to stock intake. :P

Motorcraft Gold is NOT prestone. Zerex G-05 is the same thing if you can find it, otherwise Gold might be the only choice.
I doubt it has grease fittings unless something was changed to a aftermarket part with a fitting.

I think the metal tag on diff says "synthetic".

Peak jugs show applications by make and model year.

When the ABS light comes on, problem is the sensor in the diff.

I think ignition is COP. Coil over plug(no sparkplug wires). Use the longest lasting Motorcraft or Autolite plugs b/c sparkplug swap is such a difficult job on this model.

Get camber checked front wheels.

Changing the plugs on this will be no piece of cake - they have a habit of breaking off in the head. Ford has TSB's out for this, and even created a special tool to extract the plugs. Make sure whoever is going to do the work is up-to-speed on the issue.

I notice its a 2wd, the rotors/hubs/front wheel bearings are a one piece unit. If there is any vibration under braking, don't bother machining the rotors, replace with new. Never reuse the locknut.

I'm afraid to ask how much this one piece unit is...

Ford OEM MSRP US$280.00
Motorcraft MSRP US$278.77

The latest few batches of Motorcraft have included the locknut. The OEM do not. The locknut MSRP US$24.00. Locknut must be discarded after each use, it even has "DO NOT REUSE" cast into the flange.

true, i was assuming new body style the whole time. If it is the 3v motor then the PCV valve is only serviced in the cam cover.

Do you know if the 2005 4.6 has a replaceable PCV valve?

This type of product design by Ford is the main reason why I stopped buying Ford products...

if its a 2v or 4v yes, the 3v the PCV is part of the cam cover.

Good luck on the plugs there has been much written about changing them. I am trying a run of MMO in the gas for 5 or 6 tanks before I try them, that process was recommended by a guy on this site so we'll see how it goes. My 05 I did pretty much the same maint when I got it about a month ago except the plugs. I don'k know how long you intend on keeping the truck or pulling with it but while you have the pan down you might want to put in a drain plug, I got one from napa and I bought a special steel/rubber 1/2 gasket washer the plastic one that comes with the kits are junk. No leaks.

Centric Auto Parts makes a hub that you can bolt onto the front that will allow you to use the front rotors from the 4wd. Part number is 124.65902 I plan on doing this on my 2005 when I need to replace the front rotors.
