I agree; I recently stumbled upon a 335is which had to be custom ordered; CWP is the only option. No DCT, leather, Comfort Access, navigation, or H-K. The perfect E91 for me, but anathema to the pompous dweebs who buy cars to wear rather than drive.
What is wrong with folks who buy a BMW because the way it looks and feels to them like clothing? The vast majority of folks are not track geeks/dweebs. BMW would shoot themselves in foot selling to performance buyers only.
Occasionally performance models actually sell like Subaru WRX.(Subaru estimated 5k sales but got 30k in 2002) and original US Rabbit GTI. Many performance vehicles appear with high hopes and market is not interested. I recall this when my wife test drove Mazdaspeed6 vs 05 Subaru Legacy GT(she settled with 05 Legacy GT 5mt wagon). Both models barely sold and dealers and automakers were trying to not lose their shirts selling them.
