My son's wife drives a nice little 2002 Eclipse GT with the 3.0 V6. Been blowing the 20 amp engine fuse multiple times so we knew we had a short somewhere... but where? This afternoon it began stalling out but restarting fine (fuse was OK). So my son and I tore into it and started tracing wires looking for a problem. the car leaks some oil so tracing wires in the junk isn't easy! Reading on the internet, it seems like blowing that engine computer main fuse is pretty common and usually relates to a short in wiring to one of the many engine sensors - close to the engine & hot exhaust so melting and abrasion are frequent problems. Turns out that was a good tip! Luckily, we found the cable to the crank position sensor rubbing on the accessory belt with bare metal showing on the wires. A quick tape job and cable re-routing seems to have cured the issue so we hope it runs fine now! Nothing worse for a guy than to know his wife is driving an unreliable vehicle!
