The 2V gets the about-two-threads plugs that just blow out.

I'm the leader of the Dorman Sucks Club, but the 4R70 pan is nice for the drain plug. Have one on my wife's '08 and my '07 and my non-profit's '03 and have installed several on customers' vehicles.
ATP makes a heavier and better pan than Dorman for the 4R70W transmission.

If you drop the pan and find the "plug ball" you know the trans hasn't been serviced before (which is not reason to panic anywhere other than BITOG)

Make sure 4wd engages reliably by doing tight turns in a dirt lot. The '03 trashed its CAD shift fork which is a not-that-common problem, but common enough Dorman offers a replacement. I just machined some brass bushings and attached them to the OEM fork
Thanks. It’s a 2WD. Surprisingly the power steering looked like it was changed at some point. Replaced it with Amsoil Red cap atf. I’m going to do two more siphons. The trans fluid still looked great and shifts well. When I get the urge to change the atf I’ll look for the plug ball.

I still occasionally get frantic phone calls about that part and what it is and why it is it floating in the pan. I may or may not know multiple techs who would toss them back in the pan just to mess with people.
I'm on a few facebook groups for panther cars and a few people have found 2 in the pan before. Definitely someone tossed an extra back in!
