2001 Accord upper control arm bushings

I'm going to do the front end on my wife's 2001 Accord and It appears upper control arm bushings are a specialty item for this car. Honda only offers replacement control arms with new bushings and ball joints. I have seen some urethane bushings available for about $60 per side.

I see on Rock Auto there are Moog HOSB2561 for $9/side, but they list them for late 2001-2002, and they aren't in the Moog online catalog.

Anybody know anything about options for this? I don't want to spend $150 per side for new arms with bushings and ball joints.

Rock's catalog is usually right. It looks like they also list complete arms for just over $50 each.

For that difference in price I'd go for the complete arms. It's nice to know that the ball joints are new and the arms aren't bent at all yet. As an added bonus you don have to mess around setting up to press the new bushings into the arms.

Whether you get just the bushings or complete arms, don't ruin the new bushings. Leave the bolts loose until you set the car down and the weight of it is resing on the wheels, jounce it, then tighten the bolts.

sometimes you have buy the aftermarket arm to use the aftermarket bushings.

ie you can use moog replacement bushings with moog arms but not honda arms.

So the first time you replace them you would want the full aftermarket arm

Go with complete arms. As Rand said the aftermarket bushings and ball joints from moog may only fit a moog or aftermarket part not the OEM as is the case with some Ford F150's.

Urethane bushings are a big PITA, they can get noisy as a parrot with its foot caught and need to be lubricated.
Urethane has its place but control arm and sway bar bushings are not one of them if you like quiet.

Buy Moog or Deeza arms if they are available as a quality alternative to high priced OEM but stay clear of no names, they can can cause major problems and may not even align properly, like on some cheap Mevotech i put on for a customer once.

You can tighten lubed urethane bushings in the air, but like mentioned, rubber bushings should be tightened wit the weight of the car on the wheels.

Email them with the part number and they'll tell you.

I actually emailed 5 or 6 companies about the country of origin for a ball joint for one of my cars. Both Deeza and Moog got back to me within 24 hours.

Deeza will probably be Turkey or maybe Taiwan. Those were the two possible counties for the ball joints I was considering. Deeza is based in Turkey and many of their parts come from the factory there.

Moog, it depends. They have items from all over.
