I just dropped the pan on my 3.0 Ranger. I replaced the filter and replaced the fluid up to the cold fill line. I belive I ended up putting in 4qt of fluid. It was right on the cold mark yesterday. I drove around alot yesterday with no problem but when checking it hot it showed overfilled by a little. Now I wake up and its around 55F out and I am checking it cold and it shows still over the hot mark. What going on? Does anyone have a manual or idea how much I should of added. Did I add too much? Am I ok to leave this the way it is?

Thanks,
TIM

I wouldn't run over . Depending on the length and diameter of your dip tube - you can proably get a fluild suction gun ( looks like a grease gun) and suck a 1/2 gt at a time.

Best service advice on fill ( but belated) - always measure what you took out rather than relying solely on fill capacity charts.

Did you run it through the gears before measuring? Next time, just send it through all the ranges before putting in back in PARK to read the stick.
