2000 lincoln conti floorboards flooding ?????

Ok, need help with this one BITOG'ers Dads 2000 Lincoln is getting wet floorboards after heavy rains, the windows are up all the way but somehow he's still getting water in the car. As this car has no sunroof etc i ruled out a plugged drain (or is there one in the door i dont know about) ??? where should i start looking ? weather seals maybe ? chime in, all opinions or past experience with this appreciated. how about in front of the hood near the wipers, are there drain holes in there ? could they be plugged causing this ?

Where is the water in the interior? Front floor, rear floor, or both? Is there any water higher than the floor, for example on the seats, package tray, etc?

Does this car have a vinyl covered roof, or is it plain metal?

Check all the rubber for all doors and windows. Look for rust around the cowl and windshield.

It could also be a clogged a/c drain. The a/c is probably being used when it rains.

Both sides? I knew someone with a cracked windshield that had a wet spot, could you let it dry out and use a hose?

metal roof no covering, and he just said the floorboards were wet, I can update the post after i talk to him again tomorrow.
& no cracks in the glass, i know the A/C works great, he said it got wet/flooded after a very hard rain.. No mention of any flooding at any other time.

It's almost always the windshield.

Had a problem around the cowl leaking on passenger floorboard. He sealed near the cowl area after clearing leaves and other stuff that collected at the bottom near the windshield

Cowl drains can do it, also if a vapor barrier goes bad, they can let water into the floorboards.

Sometimes you have to remove carpets and floorboards and claimb around with a hose on the car to find it...

Had the same problem with my Town Car. The small drains under the windshield wipers was offer causing the water to build up and pour through the climate control intake. Was a huge and nasty mess to get dry. My wife's Mustang did the exact thing but came through the cabin air filter and soaked the passenger side only. Not a cheap repair.

This is a common problem on Town Cars. (Different vehicle, but could have a similar lousy set-up)

The blower fan intake is flush with the bottom of the metal under the plastic cowl cover, and has a plastic "snorkel" that goes up a few inches and is sealed with a foam gasket. The foam deteriorates and water gets in the blower motor housing and gets the carpet wet on the the passenger side, front and back.

The solution is to remove the snorkel and run a tall bead of silicone where it sat, then replace the snorkel and bolt it down.

spoke to dad today, and yes its passenger side front and back.
