Valvoline maxlife synblend
super tech full synthetic 20k miles
Quaker state synthetic

Which one would you choose. I had 4 family vehicles I will do oil change to . They all use 5w30. My oil filter choice properly fram orange can. Or STP blue oil filter. 5k or 6 month oil change .

Spend a few more bucks to get a lot more value. Castrol 0w-40 is 23.97 in amazon for or the 5w-40 at walmart that's the same price but on shelves but the 0w-40 costs the same and is better but has to be ordered from amazon, walmart doesn't carry it.

I would get Mobil 1 5W30. It's just $5 over for 5 qt.
I used Valvoline MaxLife for about 10 years and always had changed it at 3K miles with Purolator filters.
I wouldn't drive 5K miles with Valvoline MaxLife, but you can drive that distance with the Mobil and the other Full Synthetic oils with a piece of mind.

I will loan the OP $5 to end this struggle …
I seriously doubt spending the extra $5 vs either the ST (Warren gets their base stock often from XOM), or Quaker State (compares favorably to Shell's other brand PP) would make any difference for a 5K OCI in a family vehicle.

There's so much variance when it comes to engines and driving environments, that there is no one size fits all that's always better than the others.

If I drove an older typical Toyota and wanted to avoid playing the rebate game, I would probably pick the Supertech 20k motor oil along with either a 20k Super Tech filter, a FRAM Ultra, or the Toyota filters that are always available at Walmart.

I would still change the oil every 5k miles and the oil filter every other oil change (using the Super Tech or Fram Ultra).

If it were a late-model European vehicle I wouldn't use any budget oil at all.

The best answer is heavily dependent on the specific engine.

Great question. Of the oils you mentioned, I would rule out the max life as it is a syn blend. I would not choose the STP filter, for the non- rational reason that I consider STP a brand for additives and gunk on moribund, smoke belching engines. Your price level of $20 is just a little too low to allow a good choice. Just three or four more dollars will get you GTX, Valvoline, Pennzoil and others. I note that the Kirkland oil goes on sale for a little more than $15 a jug twice a year, and the general consensus is that Kirkland, Supertech, Amazon Basics and the Canadian Tire product are the exact same stuff, from the same manufacturer. I’d also note that if you watch Amazon closely, you will occasionally find okay filters sub $3. The cheapest responsible oil change is a very, very interesting topic.

Not sure you would get that much more value from spending a few more bucks. What you would get is more choice, including the excellent choice of Castrol GTX FS. Spend a little more, and find PUP in your crankcase.
