2 Valvoline Restore & Protect tests

I didn’t notice any improvement until the 3rd R&P 5k oci. I almost gave up. I do think there is a point of no return on some oil burners.
Thanks.

I think you said you did 5000 mile oil changes so you noticed after 15,000 miles?

I run oil changes according to the OLM and, so far, have done about 20,000 miles so far so by the time the fourth VRP oil change is done, I will have run it for about 40,000 miles.

I will stick stick with it for 4 oil changes ….it has to be doing some cleaning anyways.

I did notice some weird gunk on the oil filler cap after the first oil change when I wiped it off with a rag.

Going back to HPL and Amsoil SS later but will run VRP once a year.

Thanks.

Yes 15k before improvements. Only about 200 miles left on my 4th oci. Some have theories that most of the cleaning happens early in the oci. I can’t confirm or deny.

I’m not knocking HPL, have never used it, but what makes it any better than any other oil? The group that hates additives saying “if we’re good then the multi billion dollar companies would be using it” don’t seem to see the irony in pumping HPL. What makes their lab any different or better than the other boutique labs?

I’ve got it (VRP) in half my fleet now on its first OCI. Fresh filters which I will cut open when the time comes. High mileage motors, 175-180k on the 3.6 Pentastar van and 5.4 2v F150. Caddy Northstar sitting at 142k. Real test will be the Honda K24 with 165k miles. Gonna pull the cover for pics of that one. Not pretty 😱

Is that pic the baffle in an engine oil filler opening?

search around for HPL. wayne went 30K + miles on HPL.

Many people won’t believe me, but I will share my story with VRP, because i am seriously impressed with this oil.

I did an oil change this past Saturday, and put in some VRP 5w-30 in my 2001 Chevy Blazer 4.3 Vortec. First time using VRP. I changed the oil, and drove 50 miles (round trip) around a big lake, to go out for dinner Saturday night. Basically highway speed driving, anywhere from 45mph-65mph, very few stop lights.

This oil fixed the random misfire issue on cylinder 5 and 6 after this 50 mile drive. I’ve had this misfire since I bought the truck 2 years ago, and this oil fixed the issue in just 50 miles of driving, I’m dead serious. I’ve replaced the spider injectors, spark plugs, checked for vacuum leaks, replaced the whole distributor, and done everything to try to fix the misfires. Nothing helped with the misfire, until VRP went in the engine.

People won’t believe me, but I’ve verified that the misfires are gone with my topdon scan tool that can check for misfires, do bidirectional tests, and etc, and the engine runs smoother than ever. There used to be a quite noticeable vibration especially at idle due to the random misfires on cylinder 5 and 6, but now it idles crazy smooth. Never knew a 4.3 L 90 degree V6 engine can be this smooth.

Also, on the right bank of the engine, there used to be a very light lifter tick, and that’s gone too now.

No other oils I’ve used have made any difference. I’ve tried M1 0w40, Shell Rotella T6, Pennzoil, Castrol, and basically every oil you can find at Walmarts automotive section. OCI’s were always kept at 3k miles with all these oils.

I’m a firm believer in VRP. And the oil is super dark after just 50 miles of driving. It usually takes about 200 miles of driving before the oil on the dipstick turns dark like used oil. Super impressed with VRP!

I’m also gonna use VRP in my 2010 ford Taurus sho 3.5 Ecoboost on its next oil change.

Some people will say I’m full of BS, and say that all this is coincidence, but I’m just sharing my personal experience, and how impressed I am with VRP.

Tell me what yall think!
I put in VRP 5W30 in december, and thus far I have about 2000km on it. The oil has turned darker quicker than other oils, but It did not solve my problem of a semi clogged turbo drain pipe.
I am however impressed with the quietness of the engine. I exclusively use 5W40 before this, and VRP is just as quiet as the 5W40, eventhough it has lower HTHS and lower KV100, It must be the boron and moly additive package vs the Shell Helix Ultra 5W40.
I probably wont use VRP the next round as I get taxed importing it, so it would be one bottle Rislone 4102 and 3.5L Shell Helix Ultra API SP 5W40.

I’d dump Delvac ESP 5w40 in. Here’s my proof.

I get it but doesn’t change that mean it’s not possible to go that long on anything else? How much oil was added after so many UOA? Doesn’t longer OCI oils have less cleaning capabilities?

Which filter are you using with the VRP?

Yikes. I will sleep much better now with the 243k on daughters '08 CRV. Hers has a LOT less junk on it. I really would like to see how your cleanup goes and hope it goes well.

I have too much other oil to use up before I get more VRP for too many vehicles. Oil stash plus 1qt of HPL PCMO is in 3 vehicles. VRP is in my wife's Pilot currently and will be next OCI also but that is for me to head off some possible VCM issues. It only has 72k on it.

CRV- 12 days ago.
