1996 Honda Acty oil recommendations?

Hi, first time posting. I have a 22k kilometers 96 Acty and ran penngrade for the first oil interval. I’m now wondering if the high levels of ZDDP will harm my factory catalytic converter? I want to protect the overhead cam at the same time. I live in South Florida, what would a good oil be to run in my truck? Thanks in advance , Dan

I don't think you need anything over the top, unless it's burning oil (which I doubt). You'll be fine using 10w-30 Castrol GTX or similar. Great truck, I just got back from Japan. My parents neighbour has two of these, I need to introduce myself and peek inside their garage for oil jugs

Very nice little machine! Would no doubt be fun to have.
Honda recommends a 10W-30 grade, but I'd personally probably run a forty grade, for which there are many choices. My thinking is that you're in a hot climate area and the little engine is having to work pretty hard most off the time.

And the phosphorus is only an issue if you’re burning (a lot of) oil.

Look around too, there are quite a few threads on this vehicle and similar. Most end up with recommendations of an ACEA A3/B4 oil. Walmart has several examples for a reasonable price.

I want to protect the overhead cam

Just about every engine made today has an overhead cam and all have CCs. There's no special worry there and you don't need extra ZDDP. Just pick an oil of the appropriate viscosity, like any xW-30 or xW-40 and get on with life. Pick a Euro oil if you're worried about HTHS and shear.

Thanks for the recommendations, I’ll go with a 5w40 Pennzoil Platinum Euro and call it good. I love this little truck and use it often around town. It seems to be really engineered well. Thanks to all!
