Ok, I've posted on this before and I will update. I hope someone can chime in who has experience with Geo, Chevy, Suzuki.
First off, my car cranks fine, runs fine, still gets me 40 mpg everyday all day. Everything "seems" ok.
I've got a P0335 code that won't go away on my Geo. So far to correct this problem I have:
-Installed a new crank sensor
-Removed the oil pan and replaced the gasket using RTV sealant
-Removed a piece of a paper clip I found inside the crank sensor hole.
Today I removed the old gasket and used RTV to re-seal. I was told that an aftermarket thick gasket on these oil pans will cause an erratic signal to the crank sensor causing it to trigger the code. Well, while doing so I noticed when I was under the oil pan that something looked funny inside the crank sensor hole. I thought it was part of a wire or something, but no, a piece of a paper clip! So I though surely this is my problem. It was stuck to the magnetic tip of the crank sensor.
I went ahead and used the RTV, replaced the oil, cleared the code, removed the negative battery cable for an hour, replaced the cable after an hour, restarted the car, 5 seconds later, BAM! CEL back on. P0335- crank position sensor circuit malfunction.
Any ideas?
