Hello... Im starting to get into bikes and got myself 1980 kawasaki 440 ltd. Had been laid down but finally got it running with some love. But i took the carbs off and did a bench sync. Put the carb back on and started it up and it just started reving out of control. so i hit the kill switch. found the throttle cable was to tight and was making the idle screw useless. Loosened the throttle cable and now the bike wont start. no clue were to go from here.

Those bikes are pretty simple I would check for spark first. Its possible the kill switch stayed on somehow. Then check to see if its getting fuel.

Try screwing in the fast idle screw if you're trying to start it on choke. Use half turn increments until you can get it to idle. Use the throttle cable stop screw to adjust the idle off choke (for when the engine is nice and warm).
