Hello everyone.

Little backstory to this truck.

My father bought this truck new in 2018 . In the span of when he bought in till December of '23, he but on around 27k miles on it. I bought it from him in Dec and currently have 39k miles on it. The first oil change I did on it when it when it had 38k miles on it I sent it to Blackstone to have it looked at. Here are the results.

I was looking to se what is everyone opinion on my first analysis?

Welcome to BITOG!

My Cummins took several thousand miles to settle in and you will find many of my UOAs on this site.

Your sample certainly has some elevated numbers but I’m not exactly sure how long the oil was in the sump. I’d run this oil for a couple thousand miles and resample. Is the truck stock or has it been modified?

Just my $0.02

If we were looking at BS's Fe universal averages for this engine it would reflect that this oil may have gone 32,062.5 miles. However, we know that there are high wear metals early in an engine's life but still it appears this oil may or may not have been changed at all. Maybe once before max? The oil seemed to fair ok under the circumstances. What did you decide to replace it with? It was a great idea for you to change it like you did so you did good there. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry.

My father did the oil change at the DIC intervals (at dealership) and I did it with around 25% left after I bought it from him. I probably should of done it sooner. He really never drove it hence the 27k miles on it after 5 years. I drive it everyday about 70 miles on the interstate. Towing every once in a while.

I found a few records he had on his truck and he changed the oil at 17k and 24k. I know he's done more oil changes but he isn't the best of keeping records lol.

I'm located in Florida and did the oil at the dealership with Mopar synthetic 5w40

I'm kinda new at this but I'm concerned with the coolant and high Iron content.

To really know what's going on, you'd have to start afresh. I'd recommend another oil change and UOA at 3000 miles. Pay attention to the results. Fill it up with the same Mopar syn 5w40, and do another UOA after 5000 miles.
