I would lease a car just so I could beat the soul out of it. Can you lease a 200 with the 3.6? They are rocket ships for what they are.

It would still better off than most Chryslers bought by the general public. I would use the best oil and filters, and change it ahead of schedule.

I wonder if my SCT tuning software covers these 200's? I might be talking myself into a lease. They make the 3.6 200 with AWD! STi/EVOs for lunch and dinner. With a 100 shot that car would be so much fun! I would have my mom lease it so when it comes in for a new transmission every 5000 miles they'll just assume it's a fluke.

You are a poster child for making all engine compartments sealed, where breaking thew seal immediately voids the warranty. Warranty fraud should be punished with massive jail time and probably public flogging.

Most have already been sold off and replaced by the Taurus and Charger based cars by now, atleast around these parts.

I was just looking at some on here:

http://www.dasapps.ohio.gov/Surplus/nextauction.asp

After the auction they post what the car sold for. The results are up for a week or so and the prices are very reasonable. The CV undercover cars are pretty cool. It seems the Charger has a fair amount of CELs and engine noises being reported. These are former State Trooper cars that mostly see hwy miles.

I looked at both cars...not wild about either of them. I may just keep tinkering with the old Volvo and shoot for 300k miles.

On the subject of leasing, my wife and kids have NO mechanical aptitude, and having reliable newish cars under warranty keeps me from getting that dreaded call that the car won't start. As a simple cash flow issue, leasing works for us...the kids will be out of college soon and getting their own cars, so at the end of leases, we will just turn in cars and downsize the fleet. Or, the kids can buy the cars at the end of the lease. If I can lease a new Accord for $235 a month, for 3 years, then walk away from it after 3 years, why not? Beats the heck out of buying it for $400/mo for 5 years then getting killed at trade-in time. It avoids the trade-in negotiation or trying to sell it outright on CL and not get robbed at gunpoint.

Cincy-some on BITOG refuse to believe that leasing makes sense for some people. Obviously, you have given it great thought.

Enjoy your new car.

Haven't bought a new car yet...we rented a Nissan Versa, of all things, last week in Florida. I was amazed at the legroom in the backseat...narrow car but LOTS of legroom.

Oddly, local Nissan dealers advertise cheaper "buy" price than "lease" price on new Versas with the same downpayment. If I could get into this sort of car for little enough money I might just buy the stupid thing. A dealer in Northern KY has a leftover '15 that is in the $13s, with power windows, CVT, power locks, power mirrors, etc. It has 6 miles on it.

My neighbor leases a new Camry every 3 yrs for $160/mo. He started with a Matrix then switched to the Camry in 2011 which was the last year for that generation. I think this is the last year for the current generation so you might be able to score a great deal on a Camry lease now. They keep his lease payment the same when he returns at lease end.

My parent's window cleaning guy leases a new Tundra every year. I "think" his lease term is more than a year but he walks into the dealer at the end of the year, hands them the keys and drives out in a new truck. He doesn't take no for answer type guy.

I still can't believe there's people who brag about how low their lease payment is per month.

Yeah, but how many thousands of $$$ did it cost on a down payment?

Yeah I agree....
Many billionaires lease..........
Millionaires lease too.....
I guess even thousandaires lease.
Go figure. The world is stupid right??
Some even have businesses...

You can shop for great lease deals and often walk away with no down payment.
If you lease high end cars you often get great deals that leave you to invest that 20-30K you put down.... Its not like buying any new car is a wise investment and you will reap dividends. Plus a lease allows you to keep, trade, or walk away with little effort...

That's a pretty general statement...

I leased my Explorer and am VERY happy I did. I had never owned a Ford but liked the look and perceived functionality of it with 3 kids.

I've had lots of quality/mechanical issues with it and it doesn't fit my family as well as I thought it would. Being able to just turn it back in at lease end and let Ford deal with their POS is worth being called a idiot I suppose.

Will I continually lease vehicles, probably not but maybe, it's kind of convenient getting a new car every 2-3 years that we generally don't have to worry about. Would I do a short term lease on a brand I am unfamiliar with and then buy it out, Yep. Sure I may pay $500 more than John Doe who negotiated better than I on a strait purchase, but that money buys me the ability to easily wash my hands of the vehicle if It turns out to be a POS or doesn't fit my needs etc. I'd take a greater loss buying a vehicle and then selling it two years later. ( talking new here, not used)

Anyways, everyone has their own opinion which is great. Some people think its dumb to lease and some lessees do it for various reasons, idiotic or not.

Some things never change on BITOG. This (general) feeling towards leasing is one of them.

Maybe I will buy a Crown Vic and put Michelin tires on it. Then we could have a LOVE FEST!
