Came across a before and after photo of a truck owner that had paintless dent repair on a door crease. After picture is less helpful as it is not a close up. What caught my eye was the price for the pdr, truck owner stated $1500 CAN.

Is that what PDR typically costs? If so, seems more than I would have guessed. Acknowledge the door is aluminum and may take some special tools/ work.

PDR used to be much cheaper in the past. Like detailing it's cost has exploded in the last 10 years or so.

Quick Google shows a door from a junkyard is ~$700 US

What junkyard? pull n pay has a flat rate on doors, can't remember the price. If the door is Aluminum then it very well may cost more.

Paid $100 for ding in door on 2024 Audi just last week in Southern New Jersey.
It was behind door crash beam. Perfect job!

Good techs are just closing the gap between the alternative of using conventional repair methods, or going with PDR. Costs for conventional repair/repaint have risen exponentially, so if the market for PDR can bear that people will be willing to pay costs that are close, but still less than conventional, they probably will.

Recently had a good sized dent (about 2ft. square) from a fallen tree branch on the hood of my son's car worked out with PDR. It was about 99% afterwards and cost me $700. Conventional quote I got from a very good shop was closer to $1500.

It’s expensive but still cheaper than a conventional repair. That looks to be a 3-stage paint as well as 2-tone and would require blending the fender and rear door as well as removal of the headlight, bumper, wheel flare, mirror, door handles, belt moldings, window run channels, 2 new nameplates, door trim panels, possibly the door glass, etc.

I paid $50 Cdn to have 4 deep door dings in a row removed 15 years ago. The company truck was in the parking space next to me and the guys were not being the least bit careful. [Their parking place was moved.]

I watched the process. Not for the faint of heart. Took about 30 minutes.

The result was perfect. I couldn't see where it had been repaired. Still can't.

I was in the waiting room and heard banging, I cringed hearing it and not seeing what was going on.
Again, results were perfect

Door ding in a similar location on my F150 was $200 and change 6 months ago. Not surprised given the length that in USD that is an $1100 repair... Cost to just replace the door will be higher given the 2 tone paint and everything else...

From 10 years ago it was $65 without windows and hardware, just the door frame.

The problem with junkyard door is every car fades over time, and you will never find a door off another car that fades just right and blend in to your car. It will stand out and look cheap.
