I grew up driving an 81 Pontiac Grand Prix in the snow as a teenager, so a modern car with traction control, abs, stability control, brake force distribution, and today's winter tire options is a breeze in comparison.
My Porsche Boxster had an open differential, but traction control, and was really good in snow, but my Mazda RX-8 with a limited slip differential without traction control was better, in my opinion. What I really want is a Cayman with limited slip, and traction control, because the weight over the drive wheels on a RWD car is so much better than a light rear end RWD car.
