10w30 in 2000 civic

ok...just bought a used 2000 civic and i noticed that the previous owner used 10w30. should i switch to 5w30 or continue using the 10w30???

I believe your manual states that 10w30 is OK as long as the temp remains above 20 degree F. In Florida, this obviously should not be a problem. FYI, I just changed to GC in my '99 Accord and it loves it; the engine is smoother and quieter with no loss in power or fuel economy.
 
With a conventional oil I would stick with 10W30 since they hold their viscosity better over 5W30s. However running a blend or a synthetic I would go ahead and run 5w30 since it costs the same and is slightly thinner at startup and during warmup - better for fuel economy and engine wear. I see no reason nowadays why 10w30 should be used in place of 5w30 even in hot FL (where I used to live).
 
I recommend a 0w30 synthetic oil here in south fla. I have used Amsoil 0w30 for 76,000 miles and have nothing but good results with it.
