I know this has probably been beat to death but I want to ask which oils are 100% synthetic oils. Not looking to compare brands just looking for which ones are 100%. I use Mobil1 5-30 in both my cars and I'm pretty sure it is 100%.

You'd have to define synthetic then stand-by for all the non-chemists to express their nonsense.
Go to the Home Page and read the documents posted there to learn more.

The Mobil 1 5w30 is absolutely, positively 100% synthetic, and yet not quite as 100% synthetic as, say, Amsoil or HPL. Seriously, the definition you’ll usually see is that a true synthetic is built from Group 4 or Group 5 base stocks, not Group 3. Some manufacturers are cagey on what the oil contains. Most of us will be fine with good brands of oil that say synthetic on the label. You should be aware that this is the gajillionth thread on this matter.

Blame Castrol-they sued to redefine what synthetic oil “is”, namely the inclusion of Group III bases. Not that there’s necessarily anything wrong with Group III based synthetics-but Germany has always defined synthetic as Group IV or V.

I believe it was actually Mobil 1 who sued Castrol for the reason you mentioned

Mobil did not sue Castrol, it was a complaint filed by Mobil against Castrol about using the term synthetic in advertising in 1999 that was handled by the National Advertising Division, a branch of the Better Business Bureau. Here is a thread from all the way back in 2007 that tried to stop the misinformation about it being a lawsuit, but 19 years later the misinformation is still being spread.

I was half right.😜😜

Really? People on BITOG don't know the truth about Mobil complaining to The Better Business Bureau advertising section after all these years? Too lazy to even google it once before posting this useless misinformation?
Who made Mobil the authority on what is synthetic? Nobody. Get over it. Group III is synthetic.
Don't mention the non-existent EU rule because there isn't one. There is only the German requirement and it really is meaningless for definition because it allows "synthetic technology" on the bottles. What does synthetic technology do? It makes synthetics. ;)
