On June 10, my wife and I will celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. I have not gotten her a gift yet. I've got a few ideas, but wondered what some of the old marriage pros might suggest.

Also as a surprise, I am taking her for a weekend trip to her beloved Mobile, AL where she went to college (USA), and has not been back since she graduated in '96. If any of you South AL locals could suggest any nice restaurants in the Mobile area, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
WW

I was born in Mobile - small world!

Based on my extensive 'research' (bad gift giving ideas) I have quite a few ideas NOT to get her:

Vacuum Cleaner (even if its the finest one ever made, as a gift, it sucks - pun intended!)
A Pasta Pot (as seen on TV)
Slow Cooker (do not go there!)
Valvoline Synpower (it WAS on sale)
Lingerie (it all runs small and it will anger her up)
ANY stuffed animals

Now - things TO get her:

Jewelry - classy jewelry, not necessarily diamonds, but precious stones (usually in her colors that she likes) and 14K gold(or higher)
A digital picture frame with highlights of the past 10 years loaded by you
Your wedding video transferred to DVD
Anything remotely romantic - that shows you care and that is the key!

GL man!

The traditional tenth anniversary gift is tin or aluminum. Sounds weird, but it's tradition. Women usually know the kind of gift that goes along with the year so she'll probably be able to appreciate it. Nice gifts of tin or aluminum are hard to find, though, so it should probably be a small thing and not the main gift.

Don't take her to the gulf of Mexico. unless you like BP oil

Our 10th is next year....I know a "ring upgrade" is one of them...

Flowers (lots of them) is a good idea....

Few things you can do.

-Upgrade her ring. Take it in for a bigger setting.
-Take her somewhere she really wanted to go(mentioned at sometime), in state, out of state, out of country.
-A cruise(this is more of a woman thing), they love cruises.

The best I've seen personally, and may be cheesy is a very good friend did a renewal of vows and only invited the closest friends and loved ones. It was a nice touch, gave his wife another "special" day.

Standard operating procedure. Most women love flowers.

Usually I add something else, typically a trip somewhere for a few days which helps the stress level and it's something both can enjoy. Oh, and go out and eat good food while you're away too.

Great idea, here.

Not all women love flowers or jewlery. Give her something that will never wilt or could get stolen: good memories of the two of you having a nice & relaxing time in a place she enjoys.

Flowers go better when they're interspersed throughout the year than just on Hallmark occasions, too.
