As a gun owner, why would you want to bring negative attention to yourself? [/quote]

It was just a simple question on what I considered a lame security procedure. I didn't ask it in a flippant manner. What I found ironic in this "security procedure" was I was able to buy both gun and ammo at the same time. Wouldn't it make more sense that if you bought a gun, you would have to leave with the gun and then come back "gunless" to buy ammo? Wouldn't it make even more sense that you could pick up the gun today and wait a few days to buy ammo? Whoever came up with the "walk it to the car and all is well" method didn't think it through. Perhaps if gun owners created these procedures, they would make better sense. I don't think that's "negative attention."

Creeguy, What you did was fine. my question was directed at Hatt, who suggested you should have told the manager there was nothing he could do to stop you if you wanted to come back later and shoot the place up. I would have simply left, and came back later for ammo. Why ruffle feathers?

Without trying to add fuel to a possible fire and ram this topic off track more than it has to be, I have not seen a single helpful or supportive comment from you in the Firearms forum at all. Do you even own a gun? What is your agenda here, mr. Ohio?

I own multiple guns. I have no agenda. I've made helpful comments. Granted they might not agree with your opinion, but I thought they were helpful.

If you buy a gun in a gun store and file the proper paperwork and everything is a go, why in the world is there a waitng period? They're letting you buy the gun but, you can't have it the day you pick it out. You're still getting the gun so it seems idiotic. I guess I should be thankful this is not the case where I live. I can pick out a handgun and walk out with it 15 minutes later. I don't feel that I live in an unsafe place because of that.

In California is there some sort of waiting period on private sales too? If not, people can just buy a used gun that's in the paper.

That's a set of rhetorical questions...right? The people's republic of California enacted the 10 day waiting period to reduce crime, because everyone knows that criminals stop by a guy store and fill out paperwork on their way to committing a crime....

Some of us still live in America.

She said that a used car sales man sold her a car and the brakes went out on it. The clerk asked her what she was going to do with the gun, and she said shoot the used car sales man. The clerk sold her the gun and a box of ammunition. And then the clerk waited on us.

You must not have been in Pennsylvania back then as they had a waiting period on handguns. Bought my first pistol in Pa circa 1962. Still have that Ruger Single Six!

It is officially called a "cooling off period.' Private party transfers have to be done in the presence of an FFL and the firearm turned over to the FFL for a 10 day cooling off period as well.
