From my last MTF change I had 1 full qt of Castrol Syntorq 75w85 left. Since it takes 2 minutes to change the mtf on my KIa I purchased a drain plug crush washer and 1 Qt of Pennzoil Synchromesh.

I have about 400 miles on this mixture and it feels great. The synchro action between shifts is awesome, there is no delay like before when quick shifting at a high RPM, and it does not whine anymore slowing down to a stop at intersections.

I think I am going to go with redline MTL just to have all of the same fluid in trans.

Your post is confusing with information missing and a clear timeline.

Did you have some Redline MTL in there before and how much?

Did you drain what in there and mix the Syntorq and Pennzoil Synchromesh?

I had 1 qt of syntorq left over from my prior change and purchased 1 qt of synchromesh.

I mixed the 2 and it feels great

I am going to go for Redline MTL because its on the heavier side of the synchromesh derivatives. I just have to wait a couple weeks because I am closing on a house right now.

I'd go with Amsoil SVG

SVG is NOT a MT transmission fluid.

The fluid you have in there now has about a 10cSt viscosity so the MTL70W80 (a 10 cSt) fluid shoud work fine.

Here is a list of GL-4 rated Synchromesh fluids:

Quote:

C. The next higher viscosity MTL would be Castrol Syntrans V FE 75W-80 8.0cSt

D. The next higher viscosity MTL would be BG Synchroshift II 8.2 cSt

E. The next higher viscosity is Mopar Type MS-9417 MTL 9.0cSt

F. The next higher viscosity MTL would be Pennzoil Synchromesh 9.3 cSt

G. The next group of MTL’s are in the 10.x cSt range are:

1. Redline MTL 70W80.

2. Amsoil MTL

3. GM Synchromeshs’

4. Volvo MTF 645

5. Ford Motor Craft XT-M5-QS
