My wifes 02 CRV only travels about 10,000 miles a year. Mostly highway miles for that matter. The manual calls for 10,000 mile intervals for normal duty.
Would it be alright to leave the oil in for one solid year?
I use Mobil 0w-20 synthetic oil with Mobil 1 filters.
Thanks!

Seems ok if the trips are not too short. You could always re-fresh it at 6 months with an oil extractor pump or just drain it. Best time for fresh oil is before winter...AND after.

Sounds like a plan to me. I am doing the same on my truck(6-10k miles a year) and will probably just change the filter and top off at 6 months. BTW, I use LC and FP and plan on using it throughout the interval.

I don't understand the "change the filter" thing. My MANN filters say "2 Years/ 30,000km" on the side. Changing the filter (which is likely not at all clogged) verses changing the fluid (which is likely shot) seems like an easy call to me. The filter change is the biggest pita of the whole job.

You are probably correct, but it's a good excuse to add a refresh to the oil. And it is a PITA messy and probably not beneficial but sure would make me feel better to have a receipt for a new filter every six months(since I have a 5 year 60k powertrain warranty to protect that still has 2 years to go.)

I dunno about that. Hardest thing on any engine is sitting. Condensation. I would not go past six months if all she is putting on the car is 800-900 miles per month. Correct me if I am wrong please......doesn't most oil manufacturers say something to the effect of ....follow your car manufacturers oil change interval or every six months at a minimum?

One year, 10,000 miles, M1 0w20, one filter - what a program!

I believe that Mobil 0w-20 synthetic oil with Mobil 1 filters will have no problems going 10K miles/1 year in a '02 CRV, especially if it's mostly highway miles. I'd probably add a UOA when you change it just to check on the general health of the engine. A peek in the oil filler hole and carefully checking the dipstick for signs of any trouble the rest of the year.

Thanks guys. I think I found my answer, I'll go one year.
Of course it's no fun for me since I like monkey'ing with the car.
