0w16 for new hybrid

Mobil 1 is a fine oil, the Extended Performance version is great, IMO, although I'm not sure if it's available in 0w-16. Toyota brand motor oil is made by Mobil, and last time I checked had a great additive pkg. That, too, would be an excellent choice. Otherwise, M1 Advanced Fuel Economy would be a good choice.
I don't think they have it in EP, but 0w-16 AFE is like 70-80% PAO according to the SDS, so it's essentially an EP oil.

My new Toyota Hybrid specs 0w16. Included is 2 years of free oil changes, but at every 10k miles.
I may do it myself instead of waiting hours at dealership for the 2 free changes.

l plan to use Mobil-1 as it is readily available in 5 quart jugs at reasonable prices in that viscosity and meets all specs. Any reason not to use M1?

What about the recommended 10k intervals? I am planning on going the distance, but am open to hearing other suggestions for or against this.
My Corolla says 10k if... and 5k if this.... (normal vs severe) I run about 7-8k with no science. Unless you consider science that I'm usually in temps above 30 driving 35 miles one way, mostly highway or in town, with very few stop signs/lights. But do have some high load, mountain passes every few months, short trips to get groceries, etc.

Make sure you buy it in a store. The Mobil 1 SN+ Is not Resource Conserving. The SP version is. I emailed Mobil 1 and asked them about the old formula and they said not to use it and to only use the SP RC.

Thanks. l usually buy oil in the store so l can check the label.

We have a 2020 Highlander Hybrid and I change it every 5k miles. I’m hoping it will help prevent oil consumption in the future. I’m excited to try Pennzoil Platinum as I have always gotten better fuel economy with their products.

My friend's 18 Camry XSE has been on 10K intervals with either Toyota 0W16 or Mobil 1 0W16. Vehicle has 85k now. All highway miles, driven aggressively. Valve cover is leaking and the engine has started to consume 1/2-3/4 qt between oil changes; the oil consumption started around 60K.

Just one data point.

You should only be using Toyota 0w16...If you are going to use a 0w16.

It is not available in 16, but it’s okay to run the 20...or 30, or 40 in that hybrid. Hard to find a better oil at a lower price than M1 EP 0W-20.

But the Camry has been using 0/16 since 2017. Haven't really heard about any issues....aside from this one

And why should someone be fixated on a single ingredient?

If I wanted to play that game, M1 0W-16 is mostly PAO according to the SDS. Wouldn't that be more important?

I couldn't care any less. I was simply pointing out what the "experts" have commented on

That seems to sum up most of the oil threads around here. Throw in 2% actual facts and huge amounts of butt hurt and boom....there ya go
It is difficult to validate the credibility of those "experts," especially when they state their preferences without making any effort to describe their rationale behind them.

Hence the reason it was in quotes. But GTMO 0/16 does seem like a robust juice from VOAs posted around here.

I have no dog in the fight as I don't have anything spec'd for 0/16 nor am I particularly 1 brand loyal

Those hybrids I think have high pressure injection, its good for efficiency but can also lead to fuel contamination in the oil, you should change it every 7,000 miles and smell the oil for gas contamination, if it does not smell like gas go for 10k, these oils are almost detergent based, so it shouldn't be a big issue.
