Hello all,
Which oil would you recommend for a Mazda3 (2.0L Skyactiv-G engine MY 2023)? I am not looking to any racing with a Mazda3 so I would rather not buck out more money to exotic or boutique vendors :)

Side note: In the Mazda workshop they used Q8 Spec D1 FE 0w20

Mobil 1 makes a nice 0w20 Extended Performance oil. You can get it under 30.00 per 5 quart jug. It would easily serve your engine's needs for as long as the recommended OCI with no trouble, and it isn't expensive (relatively speaking).

in what circumstances would one prefer 5w-30 over 0w-20? warmer climate? i am asking this because when i was pouring 0w-20 it flowed like water-like consistency :) i know one would get a bit better fuel economy by using this lighter oil but at what cost?

Using 0w20 over 5w30 wont really cost you anything, but also the fuel saving marginal.

Both should be fairly okay choices with adequate performance. Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is a great oil if you are going up to 30 weight. But Mobil 1 Extended Performance is a good choice too.

I’ve used tons of different oils in mine with NAPA synthetic 0w-20 being the one with the most miles. I’ve also used 5w-40, 5w-20, 5w-30, basically any decent oil I happen to have on the shelf when it’s time to change. These engines are not picky about oil.
