how is that a waste? it kept his engine clean and functioning. a waste would have been if he got into a wreck and the engine was lost or something like that

Thanks all for the responses and feedback. Looks like ill keep doing what im doing!

And to answer the questions about the cams. To my knowledge they're original. Maybe they were marked from factory or the dealership when getting a few recalls done including one for the cam gears.

How can you tell from a picture and not running a finger nail across the lobes?

Just from years of experience....

How long did it take you to go from 50K to 180K? How's your driving habits in percentages....ie.... 50% city / 50% highway..... what?

BTW.... Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is the King at keeping the pistons areas clean. For a few dollars more, I would try that NEXT. It is a step-up from Quaker State, which I use currently in all three vehicles. My new Hyundai has Quaker State, from the factory where that vehicle is made. My first freee oil change will be QS, which my dealer uses.

I'm not bashing QS, Just opinionated that Pennzoil Ultra Platinum has better base stock and stronger additives. Your pistons will thank you...lol

6 years is how long i've owned it for. For 2-3 years it was 80% highway when i had to make a 100 mile round trip commute to work/school. After i got a job closer to home, these days its been probably 70% city and 30% highway.

I run PP in my other lexus vehicle which im sure is a great oil but going to stick with QS in this one since its just what i've been doing. Plus its too good of a deal at walmart with the rebates.

I feel like I'm wasting time replying because it was stated in my first post. The oil was under used. Basically for every 3 OC's he could have easily done just 2 and I bet it would have been just as clean. More is not always better. Modern synthetics are that good these days especially in a non turbo non gdi application.
