You can get as many miles as you want to out of one. It like all vehicles will need repairs as it gets higher in mileage. What is your breaking point as to where its no longer worth it? It usually matters how much you like the car later into ownership. It's cheaper to put a new transmission into a high mileage, paid off car thats otherwise in decent shape than have a payment. If you love the vehicle, you're likely to do it. If not, there's your excuse for a new one.
If you take care of it, it's pretty likely you'll get 200-300k before something really major needs replacing. But it is all a guessing game. The worst model out there could luck out and just not stop, and the best one you could get a lemon. But the number I gave I think is a conservative estimate for most vehicles.
