Ac system is completely plugged with ac stop leak. No way can we flush it out even with 200lbs of pressure the evaporator and condenser refused to unplug.

So it's getting every part. Compressor, hoses, evaporator etc. Got it apart and the heater core was leaking also.

Going to be about a $2700 repair.

Anytime you have to take the dash out it's going to be at least two grand.

For the life of me I don't know why people put glue in their systems more than once…

At least it's on a Wrangler. Pretty simple to get apart, not a lot to forget going back together.

Nonsense.
Why nonsense?

Used ones around here go for $9-12k. So for him it's not worth the expense given the value of the car.

Not really. Mitchell lists 3.8 hours to remove and install this dash. Another database lists 3.0 hours. It's literally the easiest dash on a "modern" vehicle.

To me it is. Took me 5 hours to R & R the dash outta my dime, and it's old. I wouldn't even want to know how long it would take to do that on a BMW, VW, Audi, etc...

My old BMW was pretty much a nightmare when I did it. This picture was only to the point of being able to remove the ventilation assembly/box, once that was removed then it had to be dissembled. Of course doing it in the winter and in a mostly dark garage didn't help. I can't count the number of plastic clips and fasteners that broke and and to be replaced. I think there were nine stepper motors on this IHKR system.

And yes those are Hello Kitty floor mats

Ugh, yea that's about what I thought! I had the same brittle plastic problem. I almost bought a MINT MK4 Jetta 1.8T for $300 but it needed the heater/evap core and after looking up that job I noped the heck outta that.

PS, I would rock the heck outta Hello Kitty floor mats

Maybe double check that... isn't it 3.8 to remove and 3.8 to install?
